The Gene Haas Foundation has made $25,000 in scholarships available to schools who attend the EASTEC Student Innovation Tour. On day of Event, Check-in with EASTEC Student Registration & Haas Scholarship Booth to confirm school attendance. One week following EASTEC, qualifying schools will be notified by Haas of scholarship award. schools will be notified by Haas of scholarship award.
SME cordially invites you and your CTE/STEM high school students to discover and explore the world of advanced manufacturing and a brand new learning experience at EASTEC 2017.
The Student Innovation Tour is co-located with the EASTEC event taking place at the Eastern States Exposition, 1305 Memorial Avenue, West Springfield, MA 01089. It is a first come, first serve registration process with only 200-high school students attending each day from May 16 – 18, 2017 from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM.
Your school can invite pre-engineering or career and technical education students and faculty staff to accompany your group. Please maintain a ratio of at least one chaperone per ten students.
Students will explore exhibits of advanced technologies, talk with industry experts, see the latest manufacturing innovations, and meet university students studying advanced manufacturing careers. An exciting tour stop for students is to compete in the Ripple3D additive manufacturing challenge hands-on student activity.

Each school will be responsible for providing your own brown-bag lunch for your students. There will be a seating area outside of the Stroh’s Building and various outside locations for students to eat their lunch.

Upon confirming your schools participation, SME will email a registration link and password to your key contact to preregister each participant in the SME Registration Center for your school. Students in your group in grades 9th – 12th or over the age of 13, who are officially registered as described above will be welcomed to attend.
Finally, all students and educators are automatically eligible for a gift of free SME High School Membership, details to follow after your school is registered.
Communications to each school from SME will be through your school key contact who will register your group. All schools must be registered by April 28, 2017.
